Not sure what to say?

I just learned Gary had died while preparing to meet some Worcester and Holy Cross people later this afternoon. I believe Gary will be looking on with his great welcoming smile. Like all the other 63 people who wrote such beautiful comments, I was blessed to have known him. Another blessing - critical to my physical health - was to have played rugby with and not against him. My prayers are with his family and friends. Bob Marra

I just today learned of Gary's passing... Although I had not seen him in many years, I have always remembered his warmth, his kindness, and his deep and obvious sincerity... Reading what others have written, I found myself nodding in agreement with all the superlatives regarding Gary and what a wonderful human being he was. I really believe he was the very rare person who you could not say enough nice things about...and they would all be true. It has already been more than 3 years, but in my...

I am so sorry for your loss.

Just seeing this now. I'm a team mate of Gary's on the 1976 US Rugby National Team. Such a great and passionate team mate. I'm sure all who know him miss him still. Men like Gary leave a hole in the universe.

I played and toured with Gary on the USA Eagles.
(Actually, I pushed on his Glutinous Maximus in the scrum.) He was a great player and a great friend. We in the rugby community remember him well and will miss him.

I live in FL and just read about Gary's passing.
I played rugby with Gary in 1973 on the Boston Rugby Club and played against him for a few years after.
He was a gentleman and someone that I was proud to know.
I hope that his family will feel some comfort in my comments.

I just learned of this very sad news.

Gary was a good buddy in law school and will be sorely missed.

He was discussed at our recent reunion although from old good memories as no one knew he was gone.

My deepest sympathies to Ellen and family.

My wife Jody and I were fortunate to be seated next to Gary and Ellen at a 39th Holy Cross anniversary dinner in 2009. An easy, enjoyable conversation followed. Gary was warm, personable, and caring. We talked about law practice and our days in college. I asked about his football career. Gary graciously conversed about it at length. He had no airs about him whatsoever.

I met Gary a year later at another reunion, and he greeted me by name. I will never forget that.
