CLASSMATES FROM 1961

Gary was a very sweet and kind man. I have never talked to someone who was so caring and great at his job! I called for him today not knowing anything and found out, I had to take a breathe and hang up. I have only talked with him from my job at Lantana Communications but I could tell he was a wonderful person. He will be missed dearly, and my condolences go out to all of his family and friends!

In this sorrowful time, may the love of family and strength from friends comfort you both.

Our heartfelt deepest Condolences… Mark and Mitchell Cigainero.,,,,, Cigainero Guitar Repair.

Dear Penny and Robyn,

What a great man. Gary had friends everywhere, from all the different parts of his life; music, work, you name it. He had friends from 55 years to 5 months ago. I just talked to a man who played with Gary when they were both fifteen. With great conviction he told me, "Gary was a true gentleman on the bandstand." Another old friend, on learning of Gary's passing, said it much more eloquently than I could. “Now is not as good as before.”

Gary always spoke...

Dear Penny, We were so sad to hear about Gary. Will always remember his exuberant personality and love of guitar! Glad we have photos to remember him by! Deepest condolences, Cindy & Bob Benedetto

Some 30 years ago, Billy Luttrell and his store, B&D Music, played host to all kinds of musicians, fans, and assorted wannabes, many of whose common bonds included a love of jazz and guitar. Nobody told better stories than Gary. Nobody had funnier jokes. Gary was generous in sharing musical ideas, even with players who would never be his equal. Thanks to Gary, I can at least put on a Howard Roberts record to commemorate the passing of a real guitarist, namely Gary. Even as a casual...

Penny and family,
I feel fortunate to have worked with Gary at a small company in the 60's. He was so talented and funny, a joy to be around. Healing prayers to all.

Penny and Robin,
I am so sorry to hear of Gary's passing. He was such a tremendous musician and I will always remember his talented impersonation of B. B. King during jam sessions at our house with Charlie and the rest of the gang! Those were the days...gone but not forgotten. Ever. Please know that you all have my deepest sympathy for your great loss.
