I am grateful for Gary's help with insect biocontrol procedures when I first started work with fire ant decapitating flies in the mid-1990s. :-)

I was sad to learn of Gary's death. I worked with him when I was in IFAS at the University of Florida during 1984-1988. I was a post-doc working on biological control of waterhyacinth, water lettuce, and hydrilla. Gary had a great breadth of knowledge, was a good mentor, and was always a quiet gentleman. It was a privilege to have been associated with him and his work. Kim Haag
