GARY S. CHAPIN

I knew Gary for 25 yrs; I never imagined I would be the one who would write his obituary. Many of those years I found Gary extremely hard to tolerate and I would not speak to him. Like any person, he had many sides to him. We also shared many laughs together, and he is not easy to forget -- that is for sure. I suppose that's why I'm thinking about him tonight, years after he suddenly died. His soul lives on in the lives of those he touched.

Gary and I have been friends since 1970 where I met him attending Virginia Commonwealth University. We ended up being roomates in off campus housing and had such wonderful times and much laughter...those were the good old days of our youth. Though I had not seen Gary since the late '70s we remained telephone buddies keeping in touch several times a year. Even 30+ years after our last get-together I could always recognize Gary's voice and picture his face immediately when I picked up the...

So shocked and saddened to hear of my old friends passing. I had lost touch with him a few years ago but this is still a shock. I'll miss you!!
