Gary Chappie Obituary

Last Friday, October 29, 2010, Gary Chappie, Jr. went to his final rest sadly ahead of his time. He was a sensitive soul with big, bright eyes that disguised a mischievous spirit.
He was a passionate person who loved intensely. Growing up, he was inseparable from his younger brother, Jimmy. He was a devoted and loyal friend, the kind that would drop everything to be there when you needed him.
He had a great work ethic, a favorite of managers and co-workers, and quickly fit in wherever he was. But as often happens with restless souls, Gary had a harder time finding any place that fit him for long. He felt pain as much as joy and his happiness was always short-lived. We pray for him the peace that escaped him in this life and we will all miss him every day.
Gary is survived by his brother, James Chappie; his mother, Merritt Ham and husband, Dan; his father, Gary Chappie, Sr. and wife, Michelle; his grandparents, Mary Jane and Jim Kohutek; Diane Sewell, and many other family and friends.
Services will be held Wednesday, November 3rd, 3:00 PM at Irving Bible church, 2435 Kinwest Pkwy., Irving, Texas, 972-560-4600.

Michelle and Gary, I am so very sorry for the pain you are feeling at this time. I know that the Lord will guide you to Peace and that your family and friends will be there with you along the way. It was such a pleasure to have met Gary Jr this past year while in TX and I am thankful that Michelle allowed me to be a small part of the time we had together with him and Jimmy. Forgive the intrusion, as I didn't know Gary and don't know your family. I was so touched by the memorial in the Dallas Morning News that I cut it and have put it on my desk, so that it stays as reminder.

I can't begin to imagine the pain and sadness you are all going through, but clearly you brought in to this earth a beautiful child, and raised a beautiful son and brother and friend to so many.

Thank you for the honor you gave him in this memorial. Thank you for your own honor and strength in publishing it.

Know that prayers from many friends and strangers will be with you.

How sad we were to hear the tragic news of Gary's untimely death. May the memory of this tragedy soon give way to all the good memories you have stored up. Our prayers are with you and you have our deepest sympathy. Psalm 147:3 states He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. May you find comfort through Him at this time.
