My wife and me were so sorry to hear of such a terrible loss. Dr. Chase was my doctoral program's advisor when I studied at the Dept. of Mental Hygiene, JHU (1986-1990). One thing that was worth mentioning was Dr. Chase's unforgettable first visit to, at that time he called oriental Taiwan in 1991 for two-wk short stay with my family. In our deepest heart, Dr. Chase is always humorous and thoughtful. These characters always leave in our memories. Please accept our sincere condolences with...

Carol,
So many, many memories from such a long friendship. You and Gary have, in individually distinct ways, been my boosters and supporters for decades. I am sorry you decided not to settle in Charlottesville, but I have many warm remembrances of late night conversations with Gary...laughter, tears and wine! My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Love,
Lanie

A light has gone out. I only hope that Gary realized how much we all appreciated him and how special he was to so many. I was very lucky to have had the opportunity to know him for over 30 years. Being a statistical geneticist will not be as much fun any more, that's for sure.
