Visitation 1PM-8PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Gary was born in Flint on February 26, 1951. Gary, a loving father of seven lived as a free spirit enjoying his Harley Davidson, golfing, fishing and creating life long memories for his children. He was a 1969 graduate of St. John Vianney, and continued his education by receiving his R.N. from C.S. Mott while at the same time playing basketball for the "Bears". Gary worked as a nurse for over 30 years specializing in the care of the elderly for most of his career. He had great humor, a flair for storytelling and many get rich schemes. He loved "Up North". His positive outlook on life was contagious and his ongoing optimism over powered his weaknesses. A perfect example of his unwavering optimism was last year's bet on the Lions winning the Super Bowl. Gary lived every minute of his 57 years with such energy and vigor that his presence will be sadly missed by his Wife, Kim; Children James, Nancy (John), Christopher (Alyssa), Michael, Alesha and Jacob; His grandchildren, Matthew, Caleb and Gracie; Brothers, Gregory, Geoffrey; Sisters, Barbara, Bethany, Brenda and Bridget; His loving father Gordon; And a host of nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Anne and daughter Mary Alice. As the final caregiver for his mother, Gary wishes are that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association at Regional Office, 4604 N. Saginaw Rd., Suite F, Midland, MI 48640 989-839-9910. Your condolences may be shared with the family at swartzfuneralhomeinc.com
