R.E. Rogers Funeral Home - Belfry Obituary

Our beloved, Gary Copley, 64 of Chattaroy, WV entered into his Heavenly home on January 21, 2024. Gary was born on September 8, 1959 in Williamson, WV at the Williamson Memorial Hospital to Myrtle Dingess Copley and the late Millard Copley of Chattaroy, WV.


Gary was a professional musician with the Copley Brothers Bluegrass Band, a songwriter, music composer, recording artist, entertainer and a devoted Christian. Gary was a gentle loving soul whose faith in Jesus Christ was remarkable and his love for his precious savior was amazing. Gary lived for his Lord and was a prayer warrior for family and friends.


Survivors include his loving mother, Myrtle Dingess Copley his brothers and a sister, Gregory Copley, Millard Copley, Jr. and his life partner SvetLana PavLovskaya (Lana) and his ex-wife Sandra Argueta- Frazier, Donald and his wife Eunice Copley, Brenda Lee Copley and her ex-husband Timothy (Bubby) Barker and her ex-husband Jerry William Paulk, Lonnie and his wife Angie Copley and Michael Copley. Gary leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends who will cherish his memory.


A private ceremony will be held at the Webb Freewill Baptist Church in Webb, WV with Thomas Meddings officiating.


Gary will rest in peace at Copley Cemetery, Webb, WV in Wayne County with family and friends serving as pallbearers. R E Roger Funeral Home of Belfry, KY is serving the Copley Family.

I am very saddened to hear of Gary passing.We played many games of basketball together in the morning and during Gym.the wife and I send our condolences and prayers to the family.

Very sad to hear, so sorry Donald, Millard and Greg for your family's loss.

Gary was a great guy and musician.I went to their house many times and listened to them play music.Gary and his brothers were a big influence on me wanting to learn how to play.My condolences to the family.

I’m so sorry to hear that Gary has passed. We were for classmates for several years. Many condolences and prayers for this family. He was a super musician and in his younger days was a very good basketball player as well.
