Sally, I was shocked and saddened to hear about Gary's passing. We enjoyed many times at ESTC, at the PAC Western Tournaments and at the Indian Wells Tournament talking tennis, politics, school sports etc. My thoughts and condolences are with you and your family. Warm Regards. Doug Post.

Gary's signature was compassion. I was blessed to have met him for he spoke with ruthless civility to all. His life brought beauty into the world. Travel well my friend, I hope we meet again.

In the last twenty years I spent many hours with Gary. On and off the tennis court, traveling to Indian Wells for the ATP/WTA tennis tournament. He was a man I enjoyed in conversation on many subjects sometimes with opposite views. He certainly will live in my heart with all the memories of him. I hope to attend the celebration of his life this summer.

Thinking of Gary whom I only met once when he applied for the interim Oregon senator position at a meeting of the Democratic Party December a year ago. I was impressed by his strength and salty presentation as he stood before the group offering to go into public service for our state.
