I remember the last time I talked to Gary in 2017. We were both headed to work at a little after 5 am from Gateway TC about 3 months before his retirement. I told him that I heard he was retiring in July. I asked if he was having a party. He said no. I told him that I would buy him a beer to say Thank You if there was an informal bar get together. I am so saddened. Hard to express how sad. Gary was a fantastic guy and a fierce and effective advocate for natural resources and especially fish passage on the Columbia and Snake Rivers. He was a great person to work with and the bright light in my time representing Oregon on those fish passage issues. I love that his photo is of him and his cameras.
