My condolences.

I knew Coach Gaines right after he got out of college. Petersburg High School was his first coaching job. I knew him both as a coach but even more as a good Christian man. We attended Main Street Church of Christ together. I knew his family well. I want to send my condolences and prayers to Sharon, Nicole and Bradley. I put you on our prayer list at church. I love you all and may God be with you always.

Coach Gaines was a blessing to everyone he encountered and brought out the best in developing all the young athletes that he coached. He steered one of the greatest coaching staffs in Texas high school football history. Contributing to the Permian Panther tradition, his teams added so many great memories to the lineage of great teams in the 1980’s and 1990’. Thanks for the memories Coach Gaines. May your family be comforted by the Lord’s healing spirit, as we mourn Coach Gaines passing....

A most definite legend of high school football. Sincere sympathies to the Gaines family, may God be with you all, so very sorry for your loss.

Enjoyed watching Friday night lights. No actor can fill his shoes. Sorry for this loss and for his family. He will be missed.
