Gary W. Gilbert

Dear Sue: Sorry for the "late note." If my memory serves me correctly, I brought Gary on duty at SSA when I was the Admin Clerk and Ray Backus was the District Manager with Dale Averill as Assistant DM -- so many years ago. Gary was my GURU at OHA. He always had an answer to a question or would find it. I always welcomed his "stop by" to have a quick chat. It has been five years since he left and I still miss him, his smile and wonderful hearty laugh!

Sue, I hadn't known that you Gary had passed away until I saw your Mom's obituary and I really felt for you. Heather and I keep you in our prayers and hope that God and memories provide you comfort. Although very far away, our thoughts are with you. John and Heather Bierlein

I was saddened to hear of Gary's passing. Although I haven't kept in touch with either of you since my retirement, I remember Gary's "laid back" attitude. He brought a smile to everyone in the office and was always willing to lend a helping hand--whether it was moving furniture or answering a technical question. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Sue - We were in Florida when we heard the deeply saddening news of Gary's passing and were very sorry to miss his funeral. Seems like we were just with you both up at Germanfest. Gary displayed such a quiet strength and calmness in the way he faced his illness. It seemed like he was at peace with himself and his Maker. God Bless you, Alec and Jules, Joel and Jeremy at this difficult time.

I was a roommate of Gary's for 3 years at CMU. He was a great guy and a great roommate. His passing greatly saddens me and my sincere condolences to Sue Gilbert and family. We had a lot of fun and any stories he may have told of those days were not exaggerations.

Thinking of you Sue and your family - I know there are few words of solace at this difficult time but it should be of great comfort knowing that Gary's kindness and genuine smile touched many people's hearts over the years. He will be remembered thoughtfully.

I appreciated working with Gary through several years at SSA-ODAR. He was always hard working, knowledgeable, and an encourager to all of his co-workers who will miss him dearly. My condolences to Sue, Jeremy, Joel, Alec, and the entire Gilbert Family.
