GARY E. GOODWIN, age 84, of Hobart, passed away May 22, 2015 while surrounded by his family. He was a lifelong Hobart resident. Gary married Skip (nee Cole) on November 29, 1952 at St. Joseph the Worker in Glen Park. He retired from EJ & E as a General Foreman. Gary was a member of the American Legion Post #54 and a former member of the Moose Lodge in Hobart. Gary is survived by his wife of 62 years, Skip; son, Gary (Joyce) Goodwin; daughter, Karen (Ken) Taylor; grandchildren, Karleigh Taylor, Ryan Goodwin and Chris (Emily) Goodwin; great granddaughter, Amelia Goodwin; 2 sisters, Nonie Bielak and Wanda Nabhan; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard James and Clara Alice Goodwin; 6 brothers, Charles, Marion, Bernard, Drew, Barney, and Richard Goodwin; and 3 sisters, Neter Morrison, Marquita Henning, and Judy Cox.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice of Porter County. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 27, 2015 from 2:00-7:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd. A funeral service for Gary will be Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. David Nowak officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
