Mayor Gottschalk and my husband, John Poindexter, worked closely together on various projects concerning senior citizens. He kept John busy doing video and still photography. John videotaped many of the summer outdoor Community concerts. I was pleased that he honored our family by coming to John's Memorial and making kind remarks.

My deepest condolences, the mayor has always been there for everyone in Oakwood village. He always showed up at your door when someone passed away in Oakwood, he was there for my mom when my dad passed away and was there for my family when my mom passed away! He showed up for funerals which I thought was so special, he always made you feel like family not just a resident of the village! He is going to truly be missed!

May God remember the soul of Mayor Gottschalk in His Heavenly Kingdom. I had the honor of representing Oakwood Village in the General Assembly for 8 years, and Mayor Gary was always tremendous to work with. A great booster of all things Oakwood Village with great passion and empathy, Gary was always willing to share his ideas and provide perspective. He devoted so much of his life to his constituents, truly a tremendous advocate. To Gary's family, may you be assuaged of his loss by our Lord...

It is with great sadness to hear Mayor Gottschalk has passed away. We were introduced to the Mayor by my husband's UPS colleague,Jimmy Reed. JR held annual birthday parties that we attended and Mayor Gottschalk would stop by to wish him happy birthday. We thought, such was so nice and thought this is the type of community we wanted to live in. We later saw an opportunity to build a home in the Oakwood Village community. Mayor Gottschalk was so welcoming to us. We have enjoyed living in the...
