Well, we heard it through the grapevine a week after Gary passed away, that yes it was true, our dear brother-in-law, foster-father of 'Davey', Father of nieces Jennifer and Natalie, friend and Son-in-Law to Tor and Solveig, Norwegian by Proxy. The silent Type. He never raised his voice at his kids, and was a very special papa. It's a rare thing to see 2 daughters as close to their father as Nat and Jennifer were to Gary. We grieve the loss of our compatriot in red-vest with pickled herring...

Bonnie, Jennifer and Natalie,
We join the many friends and family of Gary, feeling so sad for his passing, yet feeling so fortunate and enriched to have had him as a part of our lives. "El Capitan" was a one-of-a-kind gentleman.

A favorite brother-in-law memory: at our family gatherings, at least one of my parents would invariably say something goofy or off-the-wall, and I'd look over at Gary, eyes crinkled up at the corners like he really, really wanted to laugh, but he was polite and would put on a certain kind of grin, which made me want to start laughing even more. He was always a gentleman, and my comic relief, and I will miss him.

Read and re-read this tribute. So full of life. Very hard to fathom that he is gone. Uncle Gary: kind, patient, wise, capable, a warm heart and a great wit. He will be loved and missed always.
