Dear Family of Gary Hammond,
It is with sadness we learn of the passing of Mr. Hammond. He and Betty were good friends with our parents, R.A. and Christina Parham. Chris (at the age of 97 on May 28, 2013) is in a nursing home in Kilmarnock, Va with Alzheimer's Disease near her other son, Tom. R. A. passed away in 1979. She is in good physical health, but has problems remembering things and people.
Cherish the memories you made with Gary and talk about him often to keep his spirit alive...

Mr. Hammond was one of the last connections to "old" Oak Hill School. I remember well his time at Oak Hill and how much he contributed to our school and our community. He was a good man, and was held in the highest regard by my Father. Gary Hammond was part of what made Oak Hill School such a wonderful place in the during the school's golden years of the 1950's and 1960's.

I didn't know Mr. Hammond personally however, I had Mrs. Hammond as a teacher at VHS and she was a wonderful lady and a fantastic teacher. I am so sorry for your loss.
