Gary Kaye Hardley
Gary Kaye Hardley, 78, of Dade City, Florida, died on Tuesday, March 23, 2010.
He was born to the late Walter Arnold and Virginia Gaynor Hardley in Pontiac, Michigan. Gary cherished his wife, children, and family, and his heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ.
Gary is survived by Wilma Culpepper Hardley, his loving wife of 52 years. Also surviving are his children, Kay Hardley Gibson and her husband, Wade, of Charlotte, North Carolina, William Arnold Hardley and his wife, Angie, of Wellington, Colorado, Brenda Hardley of Charlottesville, Virginia, David Jonathan Hardley and his wife, Susan Mathews, of Ashburn Virginia, and Gary Paul Hardley and his wife, Tracy Schwandt-Hardley, of Charlottesville Virginia. Additionally, he is survived by 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five surviving brothers.
He was predeceased by a sister and brother.
Gary received his high school diploma from Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, a M.S.W. from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, and an Ed.D. from the University of Virginia.
He was a valued member of the Charlottesville community who touched many lives. He was a psychotherapist for 35 years and had a private practice, Relationship Enhancement, prior to retirement. He was a former director of Charlottesville Family Service, a former Rotarian and served on the Charlottesville School Board also serving as vice-chairman. Additionally, he was a past president of the Virginia Association of Marriage and Family Counselors. He authored a weekly column in the Daily Progress, as well as a book entitled A Scriptural Guide to a Fulfilling Marriage.
During his retirement, Gary and his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada.
A private memorial service was held in Tarpon Springs, Florida, with family attending.

It was a bright sunny day in March 1952 at Wheaton College. After lunch my room-mate, Gary Hardley, and I walked over to the old Chemistry lab in Blanchard Hall.
