Gary Allen Harkins, age 71 of Portage, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023. He was born on March 31, 1952 in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania to the late George and Thelma Harkins. On June 12, 1976, he married Lynda Kulp in Hobart, Indiana. Gary retired from being a self-employed Carpenter. In his free time, Gary enjoyed being outdoors. He liked to fish and wanted to be outdoors even when it was cold outside. Being from Pennsylvania, he was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Above all, he loved his family and cherished spending time with his grandkids.


He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lynda Harkins (nee Kulp); son, Michael Harkins and his daughter, Paige Harkins; daughter, Kristy Harkins and her sons, Dylan Harkins and Lucas Moore; his siblings, Carol (Noel) Cruz, Danny Harkins, John (Norma) Harkins; and many loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Thelma Harkins; sister, Patricia Stewart; and brother, Glenn Harkins.

Seen Gary at store one day,and we got to talking about working at Sears together and some other topics next thing we know about half-hour later Gary said he better find Lynda because she was probably done shopping, Gary was a Good Man & he would say if you need anything give me a call, You'll be missed by alot of people, RIP My Friend, Andrew

Gary and I worked together for Randy Ralls. We were the same age. I just randomly ran across his obituary. I was saddened to read of his recent passing. Gary was a good man. I am grateful to have known him. I offer my sincere condolences.
