My condolences to his wife Barbara, son Wesley, and the rest of his family. I met Gary when he visited his uncle in Chicago, IL, Raymond Haymond who was a mentor to me, during the summer of his H.S. senior year We jad a good time getting to know each other. During the fall of that year, I took a road trip with his Uncle Ray to visit Newark, DE. I met most of his family including his grandfather. While there I had the pleasure of attending the very exciting Blue/Gold All Star Football game. He...

Gary was married to my cousin Barbara. My wife Abby and I met him at family reunions. In addition, I saw him play in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans in 1972. Abby and I liked Gary very much. We learned so much more from the obituary which was very impressive. He will be missed by our family and the world he worked so hard to make better.

Gary was an amazing person and athlete. Off the field he followed his own path, while on the field he created it.
You put the ball in his hands and you never knew what was going to happen. He gave us those “How did he do that” moments and bailed us out of some tough situations on many an occasions.
Gary was a good man who always had a smile on his face and a great teammate.
Seeing him at our reunions was always a treat for me.
May God bless and keep Gary Hayman.
