1944 - 2017 (Age 73)
Gary O. Heller, age 73 of Bremen, died at 10:03 a.m., Sunday, September 17, 2017, at Signature Healthcare, Bremen after a short illness. He was born April 8, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Joan (Kramer) Heller. He graduated from Chicago Vocational High School. Gary received his bachelor degree in Chriminal Justice from Anderson University, master degree from Valporaiso University and his doctorate degree from Columbia State University. On December 18, 1971 he married Kathy Huber at Bremen Missionary Church. He was an Air Force Veteran. Following his service with the Air Force he flew Helicopters with the Army Reserves. Gary retired in 1996 from U.S. Probation and Parole. Gary was a member of the FOP. He was a classic car enthusiast and raised Old English Sheep Dogs. Gary moved to Bremen in 1991 from Wanatah.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Heller; son Deron (Holly) Heller, Bremen; daughters, Christine Lucas, South Bend, and Julie (Ian) Nelson, South Bend; grandchildren, Anissa Fountain, Logan Heller, Emma Heller, Anthony Nelson, Jackson Lucas, Xander Nelson, and Asher Nelson; and brother, Randy (Carol) Heller, Oak Lawn, IL. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Heller.
Graveside services with military rites will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, September 25, 2017 at Bremen Cemetery. Rev. Gary Hinkle, of Bremen Missionary Church, will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be given to Anderson University.
