Gary was Dwayne's good friend our freshman year of college. All us girls had a crush on Gary b/c he was so sweet. Gary was the first one Dwayne told that he liked me. So Gary was with us from the start. He was the best guy ever. I love my Gar-bear... I have a hole in my heart, as does Dwayne.

Gary was an amazing person. He helped the classroom room teachers so much. He loved the stuedent and they loved him. He will be missed. Remember, God will get you through these difficult times.

It was with complete disbelief that we learned the news of Gary's passing. My eldest son had him as a teacher his first year at Sequoia and I was an active parent volunteer and enjoyed his easy going, welcoming way. Gary was a teacher grown students wanted to come back to visit. All three of my boys studied with him during their fifth grade year. We wish your family peace as you process this great loss. He will be remembered by many. While unseen, he is still with us.

I was lucky enough to live with Gary for three years at Geneseo. When we shared an off-campus apartment junior year I was, thanks to his cooking, simply the best-fed college student. Ever. Whether it was chicken piccata or steak smothered in bordelaise sauce or cajun blackened catfish or homemade pizza or Gary's famous chicken wings (which I continue to make to this day), it was delicious. And all I had to do was clean the dishes--as lopsided a trade as there ever was. I only have good...

My boys attended Sequoya and I recently was reacquainted with Gary as an educator for literacy with the East Valley Curriculum Consortium. He welcomed me to the group with a smile that was contagious! He was a true champion for children and literacy. My heart goes out to Megan and his girls. I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Dr. G...what can I say? You were a perfect example of a servant leader. So much that as I pursued my doctorate with your help as content chair I always had the inspiration needed to learn more and apply what I was learning to my own life. I don't think I ever heard you utter the words, 'No'. You were a constant help to me and all the teachers who came to me for support. I will finish this doctorate in your honor. I hope I make you proud. Thanks for all the many wonderful laughs, the raps, the...
