Gary E. Legner

Gary Edward Legner, 66, of Charlottesville, died at home.

He was born on June 26, 1944, in Carthage, Missouri, the son of Jeanne Viette Legner and the late Harold Legner.

Gary was a legal editor for the Michie Corporation, with a Master of Law degree from the University of Washington. He previously graduated from Virginia Tech and the William and Mary Law School. He also had served in the United States Army.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Etta O. Legner of Charlottesville; and a brother, Michael Legner of Mount Vernon, Virginia.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, October 3, 2010, at the Hill and Wood Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the SPCA, P.O. Box 7047, Charlottesville, VA 22901.

My heart goes out to you in your loss. I remember Gary fondly. I worked at The Michie Company before I married and left C'ville in 1985. He was always pleasant and courteous in his interactions with my department.

Our hearts were so saddened by the sudden loss of Gary. We will always cherish the fun times that we shared. We send our deepest sympathy.
