Age 71, passed away peacefully at Rideout Memorial Hospital in Marysville on January 8, 2012. He was born on October 5, 1940 in Texas and has lived in the Yuba/Sutter area for over 33 years. He retired from Farmer's Rice Company in Princeton, California after 20 years. Duane was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and enjoyed fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Edith "Pauline" Massengale of Olivehurst; a son, Richard of Washington; 4 daughters, Cecillia (and Brian), Teresa (and Chuck), Rachel and Trisha (and Joe), all of Marysville; and a sister, Kay (and Larry) Colvin of Colusa. Duane is also survived by 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 2 nieces and a nephew.

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 14, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Sierra View Mortuary in Olivehurst, with the funeral following at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Al Jolley will be officiating. Services will be concluding at the chapel. Cremation will be at Sierra View Memorial Park.
