It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved father, Gary Lynn Nordling at the age of 78, surrounded by his loving family and friends in his final moment.  He was a man of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones.

Gary Lynn Nordling, son of Emil and Catherine (Jurgenson) Nordling was born November 23, 1945 in Alcester, SD along with his twin brother, Larry. He grew up in Alcester, SD and received his education at SCOTT School.

Gary was united in marriage with Linda Anderson on Apil 8th, 1966 in Goldfield, IA. The couple moved to Sioux Falls, SD where Gary worked for Foremost Dairy as a milkman until he took new employment for Hiland Potato Chips.  He finished his truck driving career at Orion Food Systems in 2016.

Gary enjoyed laughing and joking with his friends.  Gary always put everyone else before himself.  He is the most kindhearted, husband, father, grandpa, and great grandfather.  He always had and uplifting attitude and made you feel better even if he wasn’t feeling well himself.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Nordling; children, Crystal (Ronald) Larsen, Nadene  (Evan) Roelfsema, Colleen (Jesse) McGraw; 8 grandchildren, Antonio Angelo, Courtney Sorensen, Jesse McGraw IV, Collin McGraw, Savannah McGraw, Ryan Harkema, Paige Harkema, Peyton Roelfsema; and 9 great grandchildren, Jersey Marlow, Lexie Marlow, Charleigh Sorensen, Brantley Sorensen, London Sorensen, Maxwell Sorenson, “J” McGraw V, Madison McGraw; sister’s Sharon Thompson, Marsha Maiolo; brothers Denny Nordling and twin brother, Larry Nordling.

Not sure what to say?

Linda,
I’m so sorry to hear about Gary. He was always so kind and funny. He was always making us kids laugh and he made sure we all felt included. I remember when I was working in Iowa as a News Director, he must’ve been driving truck through the area and heard me on air. He called the station and asked to speak to me. I was so surprised and happy to hear from him. He said such kind words to me. I will always remember that. He will surely be missed and always remembered. Lots of love to...

I worked with Gary at Orion Foods he was such a fun guy to be around. My condolences to his family, I am sure he will be missed by all.

I love you Gary.....and I miss you so much. Life just doesn´t seem the same anymore since you left to go to your heavenly home. I am happy for you, but sad for me. All of the suffering you went through, you never complained. Mom was like that, too. I will see you down the road.. all my love, your little Sister, Marsha. Thank you for being the best big brother ever.

Very sorry for your loss Linda. Gary was such a fun guy. What a sense of humor! Prayers to you and your family.
