Gary Overturf

Gary is my brother. He grew up as the only boy surrounded by sisters, two older and one younger. I am the oldest, so Gary probably found me a bit of a nuisance since I was often assigned "responsibility" for the younger siblings. We girls would remind him of the things he got that we didn't, such as his own room, but I'm not convinced he fully appreciated it! I remember the Gary who delivered the El Paso Times to Silver City residents for many years; the young man anxious to get started...

He was my funny, gregarious, always first in anything, and only uncle. He showed his softness and brilliance with my children and when we needed his medical advice. I will miss his big laugh.

My condolences to the Overturf family. I never met Gary, however, his loving sister Susan has always spoken so highly and lovingly about him. I know how bereft she is at the passing of her accomplished and exceptional brother.

He was my big brother and he was there for me just when a little sister needs a big brother.
