Gary was my academic advisor and mentor. More than anyone, he was responsible for me going on to graduate school for my Ph.D. and becoming a professor. As students, Gary challenged us, but was allays supportive. Many of his students came to love and respect him.

Mr. Pace was my favorite teacher at U of M - Flint. The Biology Class I took was not required, but it was the most memorable class.

After earning a zoology degree at MSU in 81, I returned to UM-F to get a teaching degree in 99. Gary was my advisor and sometimes professor. I also became his key racquetball opponent during those years. He often joked that he wasn't going to let me graduate unless I signed a contract that guaranteed him one day each week on the court. He was a fine teacher and role model for all who came under his tutelage. A life well-lived, a life to celebrate. Godspeed, Gary, and thank-you.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

Gray is the father of a very good friend Steve.I met Gary a few times. He always had something very interesting to say and a open ear to any form of conversation. Gary will be Missed and Never Forgoten.I'll be sure to look for him on the trail at For-Mar Nature Preserve
