Gary W. Parent, 58, passed away peacefully at his home on April 6, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born in Holyoke on August 7, 1962, and was a member of the Chicopee High School Class of 1980. Gary worked for local auto body shops during his life and cars were his passion. He especially loved working on Chevy Camaros and cherished sharing this love of cars with his son, Brian, as they would take on any project they could find. Gary was a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, in Granby, where he was also an active member of the Men's and Women's Club. He was a proud member of the National Rifle Association, enjoyed reading Clive Cussler novels, and was an avid Star Trek lover. Gary is survived by his wife of 31 years, Angela (Leal) Parent, his son, Brian W. Parent and his girlfriend, Katelyn Wheeler, of Montgomery, MA, his parents, George S. and Joan C. (Los) Parent, of South Hadley, a brother Michael J. Parent and his wife, Jody, of Chicopee, a sister Juliann Caverly and her husband, Douglas, of Ludlow, as well as his nephews Andrew and his wife Kimberly, Bradley, and Noah, his nieces, Vanessa and her husband Joseph, Alexis, and Emily, and his bother-in-law, Tiago Leal and his wife, Luisa, of FL. Friends and family are invited to gather for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 12, 2021, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, 256 State St., Granby, MA. Calling hours will take place on Sunday, April 11, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee. All in attendance are asked to please wear a facemask and to abide by social distancing guidelines.
