Not sure what to say?

I never had him as a teacher but as soon as a saw his picture here i said "that's Mr Phillips, the math teacher." Have to say that I never saw him without that smile and never heard a negative thing said about him. Thanks for lighting up the halls of LHS !!

Gary was an instant friend of my while working at Lous where we met. He came to our house to watch the BHOF Parade and instantly became one of the family. Im so very sorry to hear of his passing as I was looking forward to catching up again this year. May your rest in peace with the angels Gary and know you are dearly missed. Your Friend Lynn Chafee

Bridge!

Mr. Phillips was my favorite ever teacher. It always made my day to receive those annual birthday phone calls that seemed to magically reach me wherever I was. I am so very sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful caring man. And he always said if a graduate came back and stopped in his class he or she would have to recite the Quadratic Formula in true Mr. Phillips fashion!

One of my finest teachers, my memories of Mr Philips are always present,

So sorry to hear of Mr Phillips passing. He was an amazing person with so much energy. I never had him as a teacher but my sister did in years past. He would stop me in the hall just to see how my family was doing. He will be greatly missed by all.

Gary made a huge impact on me. It was delightful to be in his class. I remember Hards of energy and enthusiasm for what he had to give us. Also a family friend because he seemed to almost teach all of the children in my family. He was always smiling, and I can´t believe that he´s gone. I´m so very sorry for your loss, he is surely missed.

Gary was the most caring and generous person we have ever known. Howie knew Gary since they were freshmen who joined the Beta Sigma Rho Fraternity at Syracuse University. Susan met Gary just a few years later but instantly found him to be a remarkable individual who always thought of others rather than himself. We will miss him terribly. Howie and Susan Loeb

My heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Philips (one L - I could never call him Gary, I respected him too much) during this difficult time of loss. As a LHS '77 graduate, I had him for Pre-Algebra in House 4. I left Algebra because it was too hard and ended up in his class late. Nevertheless, he welcomed me with open arms and showed me kindness without judgment. I still don't love math, but what I learned in his class was transformational - I could actually understand math if I had the...
