Not sure what to say?

Prayers for the repose of your soul will be said on the anniversary of your death. Your good friend Dermot Cooney. Ireland

My college roommate for a couple of years. Boy did we have fun together. What a brilliant and interesting individual he was. He read incessantly and remembered everything seemingly. Miss him.

Gary you are in our prayers.

Mr. Shaffer was my 8th grade history teacher at Linglestown. Besides being a history nerd myself, we also shared a passion for hunting. We kept in touch as I got older and we actually had a chance to hunt together several times. He taught me a lot about conservation and what it means to be a sportsman. He will be greatly missed. Rest Easy, Sir.

It is with sadness that I extend my condolences to Gary´s mother, siblings, and extended family. Gary and I taught together at LInglestown Middle School for a number of years. In fact, Gary was next door to me and we spent many mornings in the hall swapping opinions and laughing while the kids arrived at their lockers. When our building was being renovated the top of our walls were open to each other´s rooms. Every once in a while Gary would round up his class and they would yell some...

Gary was my mentor, and older brother. He will be missed. ... Hungry. ...

My connection with the shaffer clan goes back to when i met Kevin in kindergarten. By 4th grade, i could run across the farmer's field to 5311 Woodlawn Dr. That's when I first met Gary. He'd wipe up the front lawn with me, wrestling. He was my big brother, and mentor. A big help when i was young. Life advice, politics, et al. over countless hours. We've always kept in touch. Now our conversation(s) drifted to "safe" school environment(s) for our children, hunting, and shotgun...

I taught with Gary many years. We had some different political views but always had a mutual respect for each other's thoughts. He will be greatly missed by his fellow teachers and students.

Saddened to hear about Gary´s passing. We enjoyed a few great years as college roommates. His brilliance was truly impressive.
