Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home - Brookville Obituary

Gary Shaw, of Brookville, was born on April 23, 1936 in Hamilton, Ohio, the son to Virgil and Della Laudemann Shaw. After graduating from Ross High School, Gary began farming with his uncle.

Gary married Nina Shaw on August 28, 1972 in Jellico, Tennessee and together they raised four daughters, Melanie, Tami, Trisha and Chelsea. Gary farmed for many years, was the proud owner of the Dairy Cottage for 29 years, and was actively involved in the community.

He was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist church and currently attended Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church. He was a board member at Bath State Bank, served on the Franklin County Community School Board, was a member of the Dunlapsville RC Airplace Club, the Masonic Lodge, the Frankin County Antique Machinery Club, and was past president of the NFO.

When not frying chicken, Gary enjoyed roller skating, pulling his John Deere tractors, working on the farm, flying model airplanes, driving his sports cars and spending time with his family.

On Sunday, December 8, he passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.

Those surviving who will cherish Gary’s memory include his loving wife of 52 years, Nina Shaw, daughters Melanie (Dale) Hanson of Hamilton, OH, Trisha (Brian) Abbott of Huntington, IN, and Chelsea (Matt) Siedling of Brookville, IN; siblings Brenda (Warren) Merrill, Hamilton, OH and Lisa Donelson, Hamilton, OH. Not sure what to say?

To Gary's family, Please accept my sincere condolences on Gary's passing. My parents were friends of Gary's for as long as I can remember. The last time I saw Gary was a couple years ago at John Hoffman's auction. Gary was as friendly and outgoing as he'd always been. He spoke so proudly of his family. I could tell how much he loved you all. Rest in peace, Gary.
Janet Stout Everly

I always would try to say hi to Gary when I was in the restaurant. I was friends with Melanie when I went to school at Springfield. The family has my sincere condolences. I know this loss isn't easy.

I will miss my old dear friend. We had many good times in our younger years. Rest in peace.

My work buddy and my friend. Your stories and your smile will forever be my remembrance of you. You will be missed.

I adored this man. Gary Shaw was an incredible human being to me. He was a father, a friend, a farmer, a jokester, a businessman, a role model, a funny guy, and a fiercely loving family man. He and Nina were my 2nd parents during college and Gary always made me feel welcomed and loved in their home. I was always so in love with how much he loved his daughters and how special his relationship was with Chelsea and then her husband and then her children. I can still see him hooting and hollering...

Nina & Family -
Betty and I were so sad to hear about Gary's Passing. In the last 120+ years that 80 acres in Mt. Carmel has only been farmed by two men. My Grandfather and Gary, both were assisted by Jim Hileman and his family. My Grandfather left the farm in great hands. I wish my health permitted me to be with you all on Friday. I will be thinking of you and will be wearing my John Deere hat. May He Rest in Peace. You are in our Prayers.
