Gary Thomas Turner, age 76 of Elwood, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born Aug. 18, 1948 in New Castle, Indiana, the son of Hilva “Pete” and Frances (Clayhorn) Turner. Gary was a 1966 graduate of Mount Summit High School. He was a hard worker and owned his own business installing siding and windows. Gary loved being outdoors, fishing, hunting, and dog racing. He enjoyed spending time with his friends sharing good jokes. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family.
Gary’s family includes his longtime companion, Vicky Turner of Elwood; daughter, Debra (husband Michael) Ducheteau of Crossville, TN; special step-son, Jerry Macke of Frankton, 2 step-children, Johnny Howey of Elwood, and Cindy Howey of Indianapolis; sister, Lana Anderson of Fort Wayne; 2 especially close step-grandchildren, Jake Macke, and Anna Macke; 5 grandchildren; 4 additional step-grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jeannette Curless; 2 sons, Daniel Turner, and David Turner; step-son, Keith Howey; and grandson, Gregory Turner.
Gary’s wishes were to be cremated and have no formal services at this time. Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood has been entrusted with Gary’s arrangements. Online condolences and memories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
