I never knew Gary but lived only a couple of blocks from him in Sunny Slope (Phx, AZ). The reason I knew him was because me and my 13 year old buddies would ride and race dirt bikes out at Beardsley race way near Dell Webb´s Sun City, North of Phoenix (about 1971 or 72). And we were in awe of this 13-14 year kid (one of us), winning every race he entered against 30 year old pros (he road a Montesa 250 at the time). We loved Gary. Gary Was a dear friend of mine I will always cherish our friendship he would always pick up when I called he was like a dad and a brother to me god bless you Gary Rest In Peace a Gentleman and a World Champion Could clear thirty cars make the target cycle jumps look to easy all while wearing a Tux I learned so much about him and he thought me a lot he was a great teacher will miss you forever
