Gary Winningham of Crawfordsville passed away May 23, surrounded by his family, at Franciscan Health of Lafayette at the age of 73.


Gary enjoyed outdoor activities like playing golf, fishing, and shooting.  He liked watching his grandkids play baseball and especially loved his family.  He served his country in the U.S. Army.  He worked at Kroger right out of school and then spent 40 years at R.R. Donnelley, retiring from there.  He later drove part-time for D Patrick Auto.


Born Oct. 25, 1951 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Leroy Winningham and Naomi Zachary Winningham.  He graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1969.  He married Tamara “Tammy” Hampton in 1984.  She survives.


Surviving family includes: wife, Tammy Winningham; daughter, Kimberly Fairfield (John Dixon); brother, Steve Winningham (Ginny); sister, Amy Lawson (Chuck); five grandchildren, Kallie Dyer (Austin), Logan Peterman (Beth), Mackenzie Kiste (Levi), Hunter Winningham and Brylee Winningham; four great-grandchildren, Colton, Elly, Granger, and Delaney.


He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, David Winningham.


Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday at Burkhart Funeral Home.  Services will be held Thursday, May 29th at 11 AM at the funeral home.  Burial with military rites will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery North.


Donations for the Dave Winningham Memorial Scholarship fund can be made at the visitation or day of services.
