Not sure what to say?

His stories helped me appreciate the sacrifices of soldiers and civillians during the Civil War.

Gary was a lifelong friend - we met in junior high, became fast friends, and although we hadn't seen each other in many years, we corresponded regularly, staying in touch for the better part of 40 years. A talented writer, a true friend, a devoted family man, he inspired me with his vast vision, immense talent and philosophical insights. I can't believe my penpal of all these years is gone - I will miss him incredibly. His books will always remain a tremendous legacy and those who he...

WE THROUGHLY ENJOYED GARY'S BOOKS AND SO DID OUR GRAND CHILDREN. IF WE HAD MORE YOUNG MEN LIKE GARY, OUR WORLD WOULD BE SO MUCH BETTER. BEING FROM A SCOUTING FAMILY (FOUR GENERATIONS THAT I KNOW OF) AND HAVING A GRANDSON WHO IS AN EAGLE SCOUT, WE SO APPRECIATE THE MANY YEARS HE GAVE OF HIS TALENTS TO THE ORGANIZATION.

OUR LOVE, THOUGHTS, PRAYERS AND DEEPEST SYMPATHY.

Gary was an important part of Troop 709, and we are honored that memorials in his name are being made to the Troop.

Gary and I became acquainted because he wrote a book "Red Cap" which was for young people and about my great grandfather. Over the years he was unfailing kind and generous in sharing any information he had about my family. We became "internet friends" who always intended to meet one day. Now that will have to wait for another day in another place. My husband and I extend our deepest condolences to his family who will miss him most of all. The saying the good die young is all too true.

The world has lost a great historian. You will be missed by many. Our prayers and sympathy go out to your family.

Thank you for your books and stories that inspired so many students - and adults, too. My prayers for your family.

In the early 1980's, I found Mr. Wisler was not only a great teacher, but was also my friend.

Because of the subject, Junior High English teachers are never very popular, but he was to me. I remember how he spent quite a few extra hours helping me out in 6th, 7th and 8th grades.

At the end of the 6th grade, I asked if I could be the photographer for the year book. I never expected him to allow me on the staff, but for the next two years, I was the Activities...

We were so sorry to hear of your loss. Our deepest sympathies to your family.
God bless you all.
