Gary and I were part of the 1967 Class. I remember Gary from our football times at Buckley field and his humorous commentary on the walks to and from the field! Priceless times! God rest his soul and condolences to his family!

I’m so sorry to hear of Gary’s passing. He was such a great guy—super nice and always kind. He will be deeply missed.

Gary made such a difference with so many people in education. His positive attitude, great sense of humor, and smile stand out for me. He was the Athletic Director at Godwin Heights. Known as Mr Zakem to me. He was a mentor to me and he worked with my Dad (Cal) at Houseman Field. Always nice to me and my Dad. I will remember him.

Coach Zakem was an extremely nice man. He gave me my the opportunity to coach for Central. This set the stage for many memorable experiences and introduced me to the remarkable young men that played for us at Central. Rest well Coach, the legacy you left behind and the lives you touched will continue to be special.

Gary had the warmest smile and always greeted everyone with a friendly hello. We are deeply saddened by his passing and send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss.
