Went to walk with his Lord unexpectedly Thursday, April 4, 2019 at his home; age 71 years.  Gary was born on April 21, 1947 in Saginaw, MI to the late Walter and Helen Zeilinger. He was married to Kathy Abraham on April 27, 1973, she survives him. Gary was a teacher at Millington High School for 21 years. He owned and operated Zeilinger Wool from 1986 until present day. Gary was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, Frankenmuth Conservation Club, and he served on the Frankenmuth City Council for 8 years. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed being in the woods. Gary played slow pitch for many years and was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.


Surviving besides his wife Kathy are: his children; Sarah (Andy) Zehnder of Frankenmuth, MI, Jonathan (April) Zeilinger of Reese, MI, grandchildren; Andrew, Jonah, and Audrey Zehnder, Kaleb and Kristopher Gammons, Ella and Lincoln Zeilinger, brothers and sisters-in-law; Donna Zeilinger, Sandra Zeilinger, Martha (Larry) Huber, William (Joanne) Abraham, Thomas (Nancy) Abraham, and many nieces and nephews.


Gary was preceded in death by: 2 brothers; James Zeilinger and Kenneth Zeilinger.


Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 10:15 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. and 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church.  Rev. Mark Brandt will officiate with burial between services in St. Lorenz Lutheran Cemetery.  Gary’s family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the 10:15 a.m. service. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to The Healing Haven for Andrew Zehnder II, or St. Lorenz Lutheran School.
