Not sure what to say?

I live near Drew and every time I walk through campus I expect to see Gary around the corner. I listen to one of the bells that always bothered him because it is woefully out of tune (still is!) I cut through the parking lot where I remember his beat up little red car. I see the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion which was built through sheer will on Gary's part. The acoustics are perfect.

Gary Nair made a difference.

I am a better musician and a stronger person because of the time I was lucky enough to spend in the Summit Chorale and as his student.

I am sure I am not the only one who can say so.

The world is colder for his absence. This little candle can give back a little bit of his warmth and light.

I only found out this week that Garyth had died. I knew him first in the late 1950s at Westminster Choir College, and he played the organ (including music of his own composition) at my wedding in 1963. We had lost touch (I had moved to England), but he was a remarkable man and I know that he will be missed. Requiscat in pace.

Gary was an amazing person. Down to earth, with transcendent talent. I loved singing in Summit Chorale. he also wrote the most beautiful arrangement of 'Silent Night' that i have ever heard. So glad he fell in love and married. Condolences to his wife and to his brother, Ron. Love, Debbie

No longer living in the area, it was only today that I learned of the death of Garyth. I am dreadfuly sad. We shared so many fine experiences, both musical and otherwise. He gave me chances I would otherwise never have had, opportunities for which I thank him to this day. My heart goes out to Angelika and all others whose lives Garyth touched.

Singing in Summit Chorale under the baton of Maestro Nair was one of the best musical experiences of my life. It was as if the musician and the instrument became one in bringing the music to life... a very connected, joyful, communal journey.

I am so grateful for the knowledge he was able to share with me.

As a friend, his path would mysteriously cross mine at the most critical times, and I will always remember his kind words of encouragement.

Gary, I know the Faure...

Very dismayed to read in the morning paper of the loss of my childhood friend. I remember the passion he had in his youth for the instruments of music. My sympathy and prayers to Angelika, Ron, and family.

The staff of The Discovery Orchestra is devastated to hear this sad news. Garyth was a brilliant artist and raconteur and we will miss him greatly. Our deepest sympathies to the beautiful Angelika, Ellis Hilton, and the rest of the Drew family.

Angelika,

I am so sorry to hear this news. My prayers are with you.
