Gauthier, Gaston. Gaston was a WW II veteran and served on the submarine USS Sea Robin. In his professional life, Gaston was an electrical contractor and a state registered professional engineer and a graduate of the University of Michigan, College of Engineering in 1951. He was a member of the Elks, MSPET, NSPE, MAP, the Thomas Edison Club of Dearborn, and the Dearborn Electrical Bureau. He provided budget estimates for projects including government NASA facilities, missile sites, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, to name a few. Gaston was involved in Boy Scouts for forty years, twenty-five of them as Scoutmaster of Troop 1148 in Dearborn. He was a volunteer adult leader for two World Jamborees, was a speaker at several area high schools, and also served as coordinator for the Scouts in Government Day.
Gaston passed away peacefully with his family around him. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Mabel (Neile), sons Gary (Cathy) and Greg, daughters Janice, Joanne Moore (Dan), and Jeanne Drexler (Ron), eight grandchildren: Elizabeth, Jennifer, Neile, Bryan, Lauren, Katlyn, Kevin, Jesse, and several nieces and nephews. His son, Glen (Janet), preceded him in death. He is also survived by his brothers Gerard, Raymond, and Charles, and his sisters Marie Spaulding and Yvonne Moran. His brother Marcel preceded him in death. Visitation will be Friday 1-9 pm at the Dearborn Chapel of Voran Funeral Home, 23701 Ford Rd. (313) 278-5100.
