Gavin passed away peacefully at the age of 79. He was born in Coatbridge, Scotland on 11/28/39 to Gavin King, Sr., and Euphemia King. He was a devoted husband and is survived by his wife, Marlene of 37 years. Gavin is preceded in death by his parents Gavin King Sr., and Euphemia King, son Gary and brother-in-law Billy. Gavin is survived by his son, Gavin “Guy”, daughter Emily, step-children, Jeannette (AJ) Shari (Ray) and James, his sister Mary, Marion (Christine) and James (Rena), several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Gavin was a hardworking commercial journeyman painter for 63 years, and a resident of San Jose, CA for 20 years before moving to San Juan Bautista, CA for the last 19 years. Gavin was a fun loving man who enjoyed travelling, spending time with family, loved music, old movies, reading, history, gardening, watching soccer and tennis, and a good pint of beer with family and friends. Gavin will be dearly missed.
Memorial Service Saturday, January 26th at noon, Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 4th Street, Gilroy, CA. Reception immediately following at Westside Grill, 8080 Santa Teresa Blvd in Gilroy, CA (408) 847-3800.
