Hanson-Neely-Allison Funeral & Cremation Services - Ada Obituary

Gavin Douglas Reed, age 8 passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 8:20 PM at Lima Memorial Health System.

He was born on October 3, 2008 in Lima, Ohio to Adam P. Reed and Lisa M. Alexander. Gavin’s father Adam and Melissa Cave survive in Harrod and his mother Lisa and Ryan House survive in Ada.

Gavin Douglas Reed was suddenly and senselessly taken from us and called home by the Lord. Gavin Douglas Reed was his name but he was so much more. He was a son, grandchild, family and friend. But most importantly he was the reason our lives changed and continued to change for the better every single day. He could brighten the room and lighten the mood with just a flash of a smile. Gavin actively played T-Ball, he was into his 2nd season of wrestling, and he even enjoyed a season of soccer, but according to him, it was just “too much running.” He was looking forward to his first year of cub scouts. On nice summer nights he loved being around a bonfire after a hard day of riding his dirt bike and four wheeler. He was a 2nd grader at Allen East Elementary School. GAVIN, SON, WE LOVE YOU!

Also surviving are maternal grandparents: Jacob and Sheryl Alexander of Westminster; paternal grandparents: Doug and Patty Reed of Waynesfield; maternal great grandmother, Cretora Alexander of Columbus; Melissa’s son, Chase Nibert; aunts and uncles: Marc Reed, Katie Reed, Jamie (Chad) Bare and Mike (Kristine) Reed; and cousins: Andrew and Lauren Reed and Mason and Karlie Bare.

Gavin was preceded in death by his uncle Jonathan Alexander.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Waynesfield Baptist Church at 512 North Westminster Street, Waynesfield, Ohio 45896 with Pastor Uncle Don Smith officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger.

Friends may call 2:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Allen East Youth Sports Alliance.
