Dear Konrad and Family - I am so deeply sorry to learn of your loss. I only had the pleasure of meeting your lovely wife one time and she was just that, lovely.

Grandma Gay will continually and eternally be in the hearts and memories of her three grandchildren whom she cared for so deeply and selflessly and instilled upon them the most precious things of life. As she did for me.

Greenwich Country Day School is deeply saddened by Mrs. Matthaei's death. She was a favorite author and a wonderful guest speaker. Her joie de vivre, charm, and passion for the history of the Lakota Sioux engaged our students and fired their interest in history.
