Sally and Nancy,
I am not sure you will remember me, but your mother's kindness and generosity made it possible for me to leave Longview for Rice U. I have always remembered that and have not been able to contact her to let her know what became of me. After medical school and residency, I settled in Austin and have practiced psychiatry here for most of my professional life. I have tried to give back and give to others as a way of returning her generosity.

She impressed me with her integrity and wisdom. I saw in her honesty and sincerity in her thoughts, her demeanor, and her opinions, and she was able to voice them without reservation. I'll miss GayCole very much. I always looked forward to seeing her in our Bible study classes. She brought such good-humored candor and fearlessly asked the questions we were all thinking that I know her spirit will be with us for years and years to come.
