Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Sioux Falls Obituary

Gayle LaMay (Ruby) Lambert was born on June 13, 1951, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Donald Ruby & Janelle Johnson.

Gayle married the love of her life, Daniel J. Lambert Senior, on March 10, 1967, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They had the joy of bringing five incredible children into this world: Kathleen Marie, Angela Janelle, Daniel James JR, Sonia Lynn, and Tonia Kaye. Gayle’s days were filled with love and care. She dedicated her life to nurturing children – raising her own as a stay-at-home mom, opening an in-home daycare, and volunteering as a room mother. From 1986 until her retirement in 2012, she worked part-time at Target, contributing in a number of different roles.

Gayle found joy in cooking, puzzles, and sewing, but her greatest joy was meals out with her family and grandchildren. She took great joy in being present at her grandchildren’s events, but what she cherished most was simply being with family. She embodied true beauty inside and out. To us, she was the most beautiful woman in the world. She had a smile that spread joy and a laugh that warms every heart. Her smile brought happiness to everyone around her. Her kindness knew no limits. She made the most of every chance to fill our lives with love and lasting memories. For her, family was everything and she made the most of every chance to celebrate that love.

Grateful for sharing her life are her loving husband of 58 years, Daniel Lambert Senior; children, Angela Walters (Scott) of Texas, Daniel Lambert Jr (Joni), Sonia Lambert, Tonia Vanderloo; Siblings, Karen Buske of Texas, Ronna Schueller (Brad) of Minnesota, Dawn Campbell (Gary); Step brothers and sisters, Terry Lund (Jackie), Vicki Williams, Tim Lund (Sue), Theresa Arens (Steve), and Ted Lund (Lisa); many nieces and nephews, 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and one great grandson on the way.

She is proceeded in death by her infant daughter, Kathleen Marie, father Donald Ruby, step mother Kaye Ruby; mother Janelle Johnson, brother Lynn Ruby; step brother Tom Lund; brother-in-law Jerry Buske; Son-in-law Shane Vanderloo; infant great grandson Banks Lambert.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

I have so many childhood memories with the Ruby family. Gayle grew up at a very young age nurturing her own siblings. She was a remarkable person and a light to so many people. I regret not having maintained a relationship with her as we grew older. My deepest sympathy to all her family. May God give you comfort and peace through this season of life. ❤

I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending you lots of love and prayers
