Not sure what to say?

Gene will always be remembered in the Schweinsberg family. I was introduced to him early in life, watching him coach my older brother Mike with the Bangor Raiders, and then the Saints. He allowed me to play at an early age (8) with the Bantam Raiders - it was a highlight of my life to skate with the big boys. Later on he was our coach with the Pepsi Penguins (Bantam), and later we moved up to the Midget ranks and he took us to State. The memories will always be engrained in my mind - I...

I played hockey for the Bay City Saints in the 1960's and Gene was our coach. He was the first coach in town outside of the Americans who instilled discipline in practices and was a true leader. Other players on the time included Mike Schweinsberg, Mike Boyce, and others who were far better than I was. Gene sometimes took us to see Red Wing games at Olympia in Detroit at his expense. I think about him and have many fond memories. He truly will be missed.

My prayers to Liz and Family. Gene was one of the Good People I have had the pleasure to know. My son played travel hockey for him and Gene was a positive influence on him. Rest in Pease Coach.

Our deepest sympathies to all the family! One of our great neighbors from Lincoln Rd.

My deepest condolences to the Ayotte family. Like many others happilly recall days skating at the market and seeing Gene running the show there. A good and fun coach of the Pepsi Penguins. Rest in Peace, John Young Gilroy, CA

Rest in peace coach! Gene coached the Pepsi Penguins in Bay City back in the 70's, and we were fortunate to have him lead us to the Michigan Midget final four State tournament. He was alway upbeat and positive! Condolences to his family.

Gene was our coach for the Bay City Pepsi Penguins. He was an awesome coach who led us to the State Midget Division Championship Finals in 1973 I believe. Gene was an awesome and fair coach who helped mold many of us young guys. Also remember playing against his Mens league Teams over the years and remember when he ran the pro shop at Bayside Ice Arena for Breens. Great memories. Rest in piece coach.
