Not sure what to say?

As I now enter the 40th year of my career in the field of Quality, I can count on one hand the men that taught me through example, the Art & Skill of effective leadership. Gene, still ranks as the Chairman.

Not a day goes by in my professional life that I don't think, "What would Gene do!"

To The Basile Family -

In 1981 I graduated college and landed my first "real" job, a position in the marketing department at U.S. Testing Co. On my first day, I was ushered into what seemed to be the biggest office I had ever seen. Told to take a seat and wait. A moment later the door burst open and in walked a man larger than life. Gene Basile was a great leader in the quality community. It was an honor to
receive the Basile Award in 2001. Please
accept my sympathies for your family and my thanks for the wonderful contributions Gene made.

I won't name them, but if you are reading this, you will know what I mean. In my travels for UST and then SGS I often ran into people who had known, or...

I had not had the pleasure to be in contact with Gene in a number of years - but I had not forgotten about him. While my contact with Gene had been as a colleague in ASME, I enjoyed the times we'd spent together - and considered him a friend and mentor. He will be missed.
