sorry to hear of the passimg of a wonderfui soul. i knew gene as a musucian in springfi.eld, mass, and a joy to be with on a gig. he was gentle, mindful,and above all sharing---yes, sharing his musical talent with his fellow musician. men like him seldom cross your path of life----i feel richer because of crossing his path.

I have nothing but fond memories of Mr. Basili at the High School of Commerce. He was the BEST Vice Principal and a GREAT Principal. He was the "fun" principal. He was fair and got to know each and every one of the students. I will sadly miss him. He definitely was ONE of the BEST! My thoughts & prayers are with the Basili Family.??

I am so sad to hear about the passing of Mr. Basili. I attended the High School of Commerce, and graduated from there with the class of 1990. Condolences to the family.

For twelve years, he was my accordion teacher. While I never touch the instrument now, he gave me the basis, the foundation for musical studies. Just last Friday, I played the organ for my father's funeral in East Longmeadow. I am an organist for the Archbishop of Tours, in France so you see that Mr Basili's teaching has LONG reaches. Remembering happy visits to the Basili home on Woodlawn Street and many school-days friendships.Saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Basili, and sending deepest sympathy to his family, especially Cheryl, Brian, Debi, and Denise, who hold a special place in childhood memories.

My prayers go out to the Basili family at this time. My name is Karen Brown Harding I was a graduate of the High School of Commerce, class of 1981. Mr. Basili truly showed a geniune interest in his students. He will be missed!!

Mr Basile was the Assistant Principal when I was a student at Forest Pk Jr. High...Then again at Commerce High...He was also a good friend of mine...Rest in Peace my Dear Friend...You will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
