Fisher, Gene "Jeff"
Gene "Jeff" Fisher, 54 of Phoenix, AZ passed away on Friday, March 5, 2010. Jeff was born on May 21, 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama. He moved to Arizona in 1984 and worked at Luke Air Force base as a Judge Advocate General for four years and then continued in the Active Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel until 2004. He worked as an attorney for the Maricopa County Public Defender's office from 1988-2008. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Linda, son Kevin, step-son Keith (Sierra), granddaughter, Lena, sister Evelyn Pillinger (Terry), and a nephew, Trent Pillinger. He was a loyal and kind husband, father, brother, and friend. Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Tempe Mortuary, 405 E. Southern Ave, Tempe, AZ. Interment of Jeff's cremated remains will talk place at a later date at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Phoenix, AZ. Arrangements entrusted to Tempe Mortuary.

Condolences from me and from our many ATO brothers. This sad news is just now making its way electronically around the country to many of the guys that Jeff knew at the ATO house in Lincoln. A memory that will always stick with me was Jeff smiling and constantly singing "Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone!" He would be half laughing as he sang it, and we'd give him grief and he'd just sing it louder!

I was greatly saddened to hear that my old boss had passed away. Jeff was the head of the PD's Office in Mesa when I graduated law school. He was a great supervisor; patient, helpful and encouraging. Fifteen years later I still carry his lessons with me to court. Please know that he made a HUGE difference in my life as both an attorney and as a friend.

Jeff was both a great boss and friend. He was always upbeat and spoke often of Kevin and his skateboarding and other activities and how much he loved him and Linda. He will be greatly missed but he achieved a great deal with his life. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I am so sad to learn of Jeff's untimely death. He was my Air Force sponsor, charged with meeting me at the airport on January 1, 1985, when I flew in from Washington, D.C. as a nervous young First Lieutenant to my first assignment as a JAG at Luke. Jeff was a wonderful friend and colleague who went out of his way to make me, and many others who followed, feel welcome. I will miss him.
