Coach Gene Paxton at the Selmon Wedding Celebration [June 21, 2008]: A great voice. This day, Coach Paxton shared great wisdom. He was a special treat on a special day.

Coach Paxton so enjoyable and inspirational; a real guy. He was my husband´s coach and mentor. Coach spoke at our wedding reception and was a big hit with the crowd. With a strong voice that carried and resonated; before the finish of his endearing comments shared, he decided to drop the mic. We are saddened by this loss. My husband especially for his care and his wife´s care for him; for his influence. Coach sent cards, notes and letters throughout the years with well wishes, expressions...

THREE SECONDS!! THREE SECONDS!! With a red towel waving in the air Gene was always in the game. Great coach. He took me on as his assistant when I arrived at JC and taught me so much more that basketball. Great friend for the past 54 years. Will miss you big time.

Coach Paxton has always been a hero in so many ways. He let me stay at his house until he found an apartment for another player and I. Mary Alice, Chris, Tim, and Amy were wonderful. He was so proud of his family and of his players. We were 24-10 and 25-10 (League Champions) the two years 1973-75 I played for coach.
