Dr. Simons big smile gave me the confidence to excel in my graduate studies. Thank you Gene, you live in my memory

Gene was a true angel in my life to help me transform my psyche from a foreign student into a US Immigrant with desires to serve the world while pursuing the path of knowledge in pursuit of transcendence. Rest in Peace

Gene was my advisor, my friend and my mentor at RPI. Thank you for all the lights you illuminated in my life. You will always be remembered

It is sad to hear that Dr. Simons is no longer with us. For me Dr. Simons brings memories of my best times at Rensselear. He was a man of talent with a great human spirit always ready and willing to help anyone that wanted to get ahead in life. My sincere condolences to his family for this tremendous loss, I am sure that wherever he is, he will still be guiding and illuminating our paths.

Our thoughts and sympathies are with you, Jan, and your family during your time of mourning. We loved Gene as an employer (Gerry worked for him at RPI), an advisor (Gene recruited Smitty to attend RPI and guided him thru his graduate work there), and most of all as a friend. We will miss him dearly. His passing is a loss to RPI, the Capital District, and the world.

My heartfelt condolence and prayers for solace and strength to Dr Simon's family and friends. We have lost a great man! As one of his graduate students, couple of decades back, I was fortunate to be inspired and guided by Dr. Simons. In addition to his significant technical accomplishments, he was a man of extraordinary dignity, compassion, and warmth. His welcoming smile is simply unforgettable. May his soul rest in peace.

My most heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of you at your loss. Gene was a most loving, caring and generous man and will be remembered always. Although there were many, my most memorable experience with Gene was when he fell asleep in his office while we were having a meeting. He dozed for a minute and woke up and kept talking. He will be missed.

To Jan and Geno's entire family my thoughts and prayers are with you. My immediate memory is of Geno's laugh and smile, starting at Kappa Nu and continuing when I was on his advisory committe for the China-RPI graduate program.
I so was pleased to be able to talk and work with him these past few years.
His legacy extends past his family and friends to thousands of students that he taught and inspired.
He will be missed, but he certainly will be remembered.
