Larry Martin forwarded me a note on Gene's passing.

Gene probably had more to do with my career from Fotomat going forward. I learned more from him about management and broadcasting than anybody else. He always had time to listen and suggest. If you failed he would say did you learn from it. It was ok to fail. I always considered Gene my mentor and was very proud that I worked with him for the seven years at Fotomat as well as staying in touch while at...

I worked with Gene at Rank for most of my time there (18 years) and I loved him. He taught me so much and was just always willing to share his knowledge with everyone. My deepest sympathies go out to you on your loss.

I last met Gene in London last year. He was a very quiet man and an interesting character who obviousily had a full and enjoyable life. An interesting afternoon was spent swapping stories on our professional work as fellow engineers. Deepest sympathies to Betty and her family at this sad time.

Gene was loved by Betty's family in St. Petersburg, Florida, who send their deepest sympathy and condolences from Betty's brother, Bill Armstrong, and his wife Molly, nieces Bobbi Armstrong Alsina and her family, Suzi Armstrong Kinter and her family, nephews Jim Armstrong and his family, and Donald Armstrong and his wife. Betty's family always enjoyed the time they spent with him in Florida and fondly remember his wit, kindness and spirit of adventure.
